Why you need The Sunday Reset

As we start a new week, it's important to take some time to reset and prepare ourselves for what's ahead. That's why I like to do a Sunday Reset.

The Sunday Reset involves taking some time on Sundays (or tbh whatever day you want!) to prioritise your well-being, reset your mind and body, and check back in with yourself.

#1 Reflection

The Sunday Reset involves taking time to reflect on the past week and set goals for the week ahead. Often we just sprint through days and weeks, thinking of what is next, without celebrating or reflecting. This is a key part because it allows you to identify patterns and behaviours that doesn’t align with the life you want to create for yourself.

Things you can do….

  • Journal on the past week - what was your peak and trough?

  • If it’s the end of the month (like today!), take a moment to reflect on the past month. We use journal prompts available here

  • Write a list of things you're proud of from the past week

  • This 10-minute meditation can get you into the right headspace

#2 Intentionality

Intentionality is an essential aspect of a Sunday Reset because it allows us to align our actions with our values and goals. When we live with intention, we are more likely to make choices that support our physical, mental, and emotional health. Without intentionality, we may find ourselves stuck in unhealthy patterns or feeling unfulfilled in our lives.

Things you can do….

  • Write down your goals or intentions for the week ahead

  • Look at your calendar and set aside time for your fave hobbies and self-care.

  • Identify your potential stress triggers for the week and make a plan to manage them

  • If it’s the end of the month, set a new monthly theme and goals that are aligned with your personal values. Bonus points for creating a digital vision board to accompany it.

#3 Preparation

An important aspect of a Sunday Reset, this part involves prepping yourself for the week ahead. I’ve always seen prep time as doing something for your future self. With things organised, you're less likely to feel overwhelmed or stressed when unexpected things happen during the week. Prep can also help you make more intentional choices throughout the week, ensuring that you're spending your time and energy on the things that matter most to you.

Things you can do….

  • Organise your meals for the week

  • Clean and tidy your home

  • Wash your emotional support water bottle (I use citric acid for my stainless steel bottle)

  • Water and prune your indoor plants

  • Do the laundry

  • Pack your work bag for the week ahead

#4 Nourishment

Nourishing self-care can take many forms, and it's essential to find the activities that work best for you. Take the time to slow down and recalibrate, so you can connect back to yourself.

Things you can do….

  • Take a social media or digital detox for the night

  • Get out in nature (even if it’s just getting out in your backyard)

  • Enjoy a restorative yoga session in a studio or online

  • Watch your favourite movie or show

  • Eat a nutrient-rich meal

  • Practice a slow breath work meditation

  • Go to bed early
