I’m an enormous fan of exploring the 'why' of my personality and behaviour.  It all started in the last year of high school studying psychology, when our school brought in an agency to run the Myers-Briggs Personality test on us. I found the analysis so interesting and definitely became more aware of my strengths and weaknesses.

Now as an adult, I’ve done tests for professional reasons plus just for fun. They can help you to improve and understand relationships, your performance at work, and even achieve personal goals.

So here’s a round up of my all-time favourites, cos a little introspection never hurt anybody.

Myers-Briggs personality test

The OG of personality tests. This one does take a while so be prepared and don't rush. When you read each question, your first instinct should be the answer.

We really like this website as they give you a thorough breakdown and profile of your personality type at the end including all things strengths/weaknesses, relationships, parenthood and career.

Love Languages test

An all time favourite. In the past I’ve asked my partner, friends and family take this. The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman will explain your primary love language, what it means and how you can use it to connect with others. There are five languages - word of affirmation, acts of service, receiving gifts, quality time and physical touch.

I like to find this out for my loved ones, so I can use their favourite love language to show them that I appreciate them. E.g. my best friend has a primary love language of receiving gifts, so I'll buy her treats or a coffee whereas my partner is ‘quality time’ so I ensure that we spend one-on-one time together with no digi distractions.

For more in-depth information The ‘5 Love Languages’ book series is also available; going into the general profiles, or specifically for children, for teens, for families and for the workplace.

Ayurveda Dosha test

Ayurveda is one of the world’s oldest systems of natural healing. It states that every health-related measure – whether an exercise program, dietary plan, or supplement – must be evaluated in terms of a person’s individual constitutional type and the specific needs that derive from it. In Ayurveda, there are three governing agents (or profiles) . called doshas - Vata, Pitta, and Kapha.

According to Ayurveda, an imbalance in the doshas disrupts the flow of intelligence throughout the entire mind-body physiology and is the underlying cause of disorder and disease.

Learning about your Ayurvedic body type will give you valuable information for nurturing your body and will allow you to make the best choices for your own health and wellbeing, including identifying the foods, activities, and lifestyle that will have the greatest benefit. (source)

We have also recommend ‘The Idiot’s Guide To Ayurveda’ by Sahara Rose for further information.

DISC test

Tony Robbins uses this test as it provides a better understanding of yourself and how you adapt your behaviours with others within a work team, a sales relationship, a leadership position, or other relationships.

DISC can help you to increase your self-knowledge: how you respond to conflict, what motivates you, what causes you stress and how you solve problems, improving work relationships, develop professional skills and become a better leader.

The DISC quiz is based on a four quadrants of Dominance, Influence, Steadiness and Conscientiousness.

Enneagram test

Similar to the classic Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) test, the Enneagram test helps you find your specific personality types.

There are nine Enneagram types, and according to the Enneagram Institute, it is common to find a little of yourself in all nine of the types, although one of them should stand out as being closest to yourself. This is your basic personality type.

Moon sign test

Ok, ok. This isn’t a personality test as such, BUT this test is for all those horoscope fans out there.

Yes we all know our zodiac signs, but do you know your moon sign? Our moon sign (where the moon was when you were born), is your subconscious - your emotions, your deepest needs, and what helps you feel emotionally secure.

Your moon sign can also influence how strongly your zodiac sign is expressed. E.g. if you’re a fiery Aries with a mellow Taurus moon, your aggressive nature may be toned down by the steady Taurus influence (source).

Find your full profile here (you will need to know the time you were born).
